We started this because we lived it.

BridgeCare Companions was built by a family who understand exactly what you're going through.
OUR STORY

Born from personal experience

BridgeCare Companions was co-founded by Maxine and Andrew, brought together by a shared belief that no one should ever feel alone, especially in later life. Maxine’s connection to this work is deeply personal. When her father was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and dementia, the family did everything they could to be there for him. Visits, music, walks, keeping him engaged and connected. When life got in the way and the visits became less frequent, she watched him decline.

That experience, and the love, guilt and grief that came with it, is the reason BridgeCare Companions exists. Andrew witnessed that journey alongside Maxine and saw first-hand what happens when consistent presence is taken away. With over 8 years working in mentoring and companionship, he had already seen how much of a difference simply showing up can make for someone who feels overlooked or alone.

Together they bring over 15 years of combined experience in companionship, mentoring and community support, and a personal understanding of what families go through that no textbook can teach.

Who We Are

OUR VALUES

Showing up consistently. Being genuinely there — not just physically, but emotionally.

Dignity

Every person we visit is someone’s everything. We treat them accordingly.

Honesty

Our reports are truthful. If something concerns us, we tell you. You deserve to know.

Warmth

This isn’t a transaction. It’s a relationship. We care — genuinely.

Meet Maxine

Maxine is the co-founder, lead companion and the warm heart behind BridgeCare Companions. At 38, she brings professional experience, personal understanding and genuine human warmth that you simply cannot train someone to have.

For years, Maxine travelled to Dover regularly to spend time with her grandmother who lived alone. No obligation. Just love, showing up. When her father was later diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and dementia, she and the family did everything they could to keep him connected. When visits became less frequent, she watched him decline. He passed away in April 2026. That loss is the reason BridgeCare Companions exists.

With a background in mentoring, employability and community support, and holding full safeguarding qualifications, Maxine understands grief, loneliness and what it truly means to show up for someone.

Everyone who meets her says the same thing. She has a good spirit. Caring, funny, selfless and motherly. She puts others first without thinking twice.

You will see Maxine across our social media sharing real stories and experiences. Every companion we work with is carefully selected to reflect the same values she embodies warmth, reliability and genuine care. When you choose BridgeCare Companions, you are not just choosing a person. You are choosing a standard.
